Poor body image affects wellbeing and can contribute to physical and mental health problems, including eating disorders. It can also impact confidence and performance at work. While body image is shaped by many influences, the workplace plays an important role. This session explores how organisations can create environments where people in all bodies feel respected and supported.
The session builds understanding of eating disorders and early identification, with a strong focus on prevention and fostering workplace cultures that promote wellbeing for everyone
In this session, participants will:
- Build a shared understanding of body image and why it matters in the workplace.
- Understand how workplace culture, weight stigma and other factors influence body image.
- Explore the spectrum of attitudes and behaviours that can contribute to body dissatisfaction and eating disorders.
- Be more confident in recognising early warning signs and having supportive conversations.
- Understand support they can offer to colleagues impacted by eating disorders.
- Learn everyday strategies to promote a BodyKind workplace culture, including language, eating, movement and self-care.
- Strengthen positive role modelling at work and beyond.
- Know where to access further support, including Butterfly’s National Helpline.
