Body Kind Youth Survey 2023 – Parent Information

Your teen’s voice can make a difference

Butterfly invites Australian teens aged 12 to18 years old to share their experiences and ideas around body image. 

 This important research will help Butterfly better support young people and prevent serious body and eating issues.

About the survey 

  • Developed by Butterfly, leading body image researchers, educators, and people with a lived experience
  • A strong do no harm approach.  The survey does not ask questions about harmful behaviours or eating disorders
  • Ethics approved
  • Confidential and anonymous  
  • Every teen who completes the survey can enter the draw to win one of 20 gift vouchers. 

Consent to your child’s participation 

If your child is aged between 12 to 14 years they will need your consent to participate.  You will need to: 

  • Enter the survey and watch a short video covering information about the survey with your child. If you prefer, you can read a transcript (see ‘survey information’ below)   
  • Tick a box to give your consent and provide your email address 
  • Your child will then be able to proceed to the next question  
  • You will be sent an email confirming their participation and providing links to the documents below.
