Butterfly Board Chair, David Murray AO, announced today that the Butterfly CEO, Kevin Barrow will be leaving Butterfly on 12 May 2023.

In Kevin’s four years of leadership with Butterfly there have been several significant achievements in our work to prevent eating disorders from developing and to provide treatment and support for those who need assistance.

These include the opening of Wandi Nerida, Australia’s first residential recovery centre for eating disorders; the launch of Butterfly Body Bright, Australia’s first body image program targeted at whole of primary school; handling the substantial surge in demand to our national helpline & services during COVID and working collaboratively with governments and other organisations in the eating disorders and body image sector.

On behalf of the board, executive and staff, Mr Murray expressed his thanks to Kevin for his dedication to the pursuit of our vision and to the growth and development of our services to deal with these challenging mental health issues and their risk factors. We wish him all the best as he continues his dedication to improvements in the health system in Australia.

Kevin will be taking up a role as CEO of the Sydney North Health Network. Mr Murray added that the board had already commenced the process of seeking a new CEO and is looking forward to announcing its new leadership arrangements as soon as practicable.
