Today a new listed investment company was announced, the Future Generation Global Company, with a significant distinction. This listed investment company (LiC) aims to give investors access to selected global fund managers while changing the lives of young Australians affected by mental illness. The Future Generation Global Company will donate 1 per cent of net tangible assets each year to nine designated Australian charities including the Butterfly Foundation, Beyond Blue, Black Dog Institute, Brain & Mind Research Institute, Headspace and ReachOut Australia.

The Butterfly Foundation is excited by the opportunity to be involved in such an innovative investment company that recognises the need to address the significance of youth mental health issues in Australia, especially eating disorders. The Future Generation Global Company’s recognition of Butterfly’s leadership and subject expertise acknowledges the efforts that we all have made to establish eating disorders as a serious mental illness.

This potential funding will contribute to Butterfly delivering a sustainable response to eating disorders through an intensive outpatient program for young people. This innovative approach to investment in social issues is an inspirational example of leadership. It will help make a real difference to the lives of many young Australians.
