I am 44 years old and I would like to share my story of recovery from a chronic eating disorder that spanned across 27 years. My hope that is that I can help as many young people as possible not to go through years of pain and anguish, and anyone who has been suffering with a eating disorder for extended period of time that you absolutely can heal yourself and change with the right tools and mindset.
Whatever your age, gender or cultural environment, Binge Eating Disorder (BED) and Bulimia Nervosa (BN) can happen to anyone. Whether you have a diagnosis for binge eating or bulimia, or feel you might be experiencing some form of disordered eating, understanding yourself and your relationship with food can be empowering.
Recovery from an eating disorder can be challenging. A part of you might desperately want to heal, while another part of you is clinging to the behaviours you know no longer serve you.
