Raising Body Bright Children
Audience: Parents and care-givers of primary age children.
Session Length: 1hr 15 mins (via Zoom)
Group Size: No upper limit
With a focus on preventing body dissatisfaction and serious eating issues, this session provides information and practical tips to help parents of children (aged 5-12) better understand and promote positive body image and a healthy relationship with eating and physical activity in the home. It provides practical strategies to be a positive role model, reduce the impact of risk factors in a child’s environment, and empower children to feel BRIGHT in their body through the lens of the Body Bright themes.
The session also explores when to be concerned about a child’s body image and what you can do, including referral and support information.
Whilst the session does aim to increase understanding of early warning signs of body dissatisfaction and disordered eating, the focus is on prevention and fostering positive body image and healthy behaviours.
