Competitive sport offers young people and their communities many positive physical, social and emotional benefits. However, poor body image is one of the top reasons young people, particularly girls, drop out of sport. Adolescents involved in competitive sport are also at higher risk of developing disordered eating or an eating disorder.
Since 2007, Butterfly has worked with sporting organisations and governing bodies across all levels—from grassroots to high performance. We build awareness, deliver education and collaborate closely to embed BodyKind practices, creating supportive, safe environments where young athletes navigating puberty, adolescence and competitive sports can thrive.
Access free resources to support positive body image in youth sports. Designed for coaches and community clubs, our BodyKind August toolkit helps you create safe, supportive environments for young athletes—anytime, any season.
