Body image is one of the leading reasons young people — particularly girls — walk away from sport. Community sports can help change that!
When coaches and clubs foster safe, inclusive, BodyKind environments, young people are more likely to stay in sport — and thrive.
Butterfly’s annual awareness initiative, BodyKind August, offers free access to a range of activities, posters, and information to sporting clubs and others embed and promote BodyKind messages to the people around them. BodyKind August aims to foster a culture of respect for all bodies — encouraging everyone to be BodyKind, both to themselves and to others. These ready-to-use tools are practical, accessible, and designed to be used all year round — not just in August.
Butterfly is proud to be the Australian partner of Dove’s Body Confident Athlete program, which is an integral part of their global Body Confident Sport initiative. In 2026, we’ll be offering free ‘Coach the Coach’ sessions to community sports clubs across Australia, equipping coaches with skills and confidence to support young people’s body image, to help them stay engaged in sport.
