BodyKind Sports for Parents
Young athletes are navigating a world of narrow body ideals, conflicting health messages, and relentless comparison. Parents and families play a vital role in shaping how they eat, train, and feel about their bodies. That influence runs deep, in sport and in life.
Our session for parents provides the knowledge and tools to understand body image in sport, spot early warning signs, and role model positive attitudes and behaviours around training and eating. Supporting body image is critical for aspiring athletes so that body dissatisfaction and disordered eating and behaviours don’t become a barrier to their reaching their potential in sport, and in life.
“Young athletes are people first. Our job as parents is to protect their wellbeing – the performance can follow.” Parent of a high-performance athlete.
This session takes a strength-based approach and does not discuss individual case or care management.
