Butterfly Foundation is seeking expressions of interest for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with lived or living experience of, interest, or expertise in eating disorders and body image issues to join our First Nations Advisory Committee.

Who Can Apply

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with lived or living experience of, interest, or expertise in eating disorders and body image issues.

Your Role

As a valued member of the committee, you will attend up to four online meetings per year to collaborate with other First Nations representatives and Butterfly staff. Your contribution will provide cultural guidance, community insights, and strategic advice in the following areas:

Community Voice and Leadership
  • Share perspectives on what would best support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in relation to eating disorders and body image concerns
  • Advise on how Butterfly can better respond to community needs
  • Guide how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices are heard and embedded in Butterfly’s ongoing work.
Cultural Guidance
  • Help integrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into programs, services, and resources
  • Support the development of culturally safe and respectful processes, programs, advocacy, campaigns, and communications
  • Provide advice on organisational cultural safety practices.
Community Support
  • Contribute to strategies that encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing body image or eating concerns to seek help
  • Assist Butterfly in building strong, respectful relationships within communities to promote access to support.
Meeting Structure
  • Up to four online meetings per year (approximately 2 hours each), plus pre-meeting preparation
  • Meetings chaired by committee-appointed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members.
Remuneration

Reimbursement is based on Remuneration Tribunal Determination 2025. $258 – $358 for 2-3 hours depending on role and high-preparation tasks.
