Are you passionate about supporting young people’s mental health and body image? Do you want to impact and inspire young Australians so they can thrive in their body? Are you someone who loves presenting and can authentically relate to and engage with young people, in upper primary through to senior secondary and from a range of backgrounds?
Butterfly is looking for passionate, experienced and dynamic presenters to join our Prevention and Education Team as a BodyKind Schools Sessional Presenter, delivering Butterfly developed presentations to young people in schools and community settings, in Victoria.
Butterfly is Australia’s largest not for profit supporting those with eating disorders and body image concerns and the people who care for them. Butterfly is a trusted and reputable provider of body image education services and programs, and since 2007 have reached over 2.3 million young people, Australia-wide. Butterfly’s youth presentations are informed by the latest evidence and aim to address the risk factors and build the protective factors that can underpin the development of body dissatisfaction and disordered eating behaviours, in a way that is strength-based, youth friendly, age and developmentally appropriate.
People who will be a fantastic addition to the team will,
- Be of any gender.
- Have experience in presenting to large groups of young people.
- Have exceptional presentation and language skills, who can effectively use their voice and body language.
- Be able to positively communicate with young people, in a strong, professional but fun and non-judgmental manner.
- Are passionate advocates for positive body image.
- Are aware of the influences that can impact a young person’s relationship with their body, eating and exercise.
- Possess a good understanding of the risks and protective factors relating to body dissatisfaction and disordered eating behaviours.
- Have a health science, allied health, psychology, education, sport/coaching, drama background or possess relevant experience related to the area of body image.
- Hold a current employee Working With Children Check (which includes a current police check), a current driver’s licence, and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Are reliable, self-motivated and a good communicator and able to take on constructive feedback for their continuous improvement and development.
- Must have 6 – 12 hours availability* across a week during Victorian school hours and terms.
*Within the window of availability we cannot guarantee the volume of work/hours. This casual role would suit someone who has part-time, flexible work/study/other commitments to complement this ad-hoc role.
Currently the demand for our services is in metropolitan Victoria and we do not have the volume of activity in outer Melbourne, regional/rural areas to sustain meaningful employment.

First round interviews are likely to take place week beginning 28th April Selected candidates will then be required to attend a second stage 1.5hr group interview/information session before offers are made. Successful candidates will be required to attend a mixture of online and face to face training in Armadale in May.
