Butterfly Foundation is Australia’s national charity for eating disorders and body image issues, providing a voice for those affected and the people who care for them. Eating disorders are severe and complex mental illnesses with physical complications, and the medical, psychological, physical and social consequences can be long term and for many, life threatening.

Butterfly advocates for improved services from government, health and mental health organisations, and the eating disorder sector, raising awareness in the media and via community engagement. Butterfly runs Australia’s only national Eating Disorders Helpline, seven days a week; evidence-based clinical treatment and support programs; and delivers prevention initiatives in schools and the community to combat negative body image issues.

About the Role

This role will be integral to the development, coordination and management of Butterfly Treatment Programs. Supporting the National Manager of Treatment & Recovery Support Services, in ensuring effective and efficient service delivery, in response to the growing needs of people living with eating disorder in Australia.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Provide clinical leadership to inform and guide the delivery of high quality eating disorder treatment services.
  • Coordinate the intake and referral processes to ensure adequate client flow and management of waitlists such that clinical care is delivered in a timely, responsive and efficient manner.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping ensuring that accurate notes are recorded, file audits completed, and all consumer files are stored in line with legislative requirements and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and assist in the building of new partnerships and clinical networks, including representing Butterfly at external events as required.

Essential:

  • Qualifications in Psychology, Social work, Dietetics or other relevant discipline and registration with a relevant professional body (e.g. AHPRA, AASW).
  • Minimum of five years of postgraduate experience in the treatment of /service delivery to clients with complex mental health problems (or part-time equivalent).
  • Knowledge and clinical experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, and co-morbid mental health conditions.
  • Experience in development and implementation of referral pathways, triage, intake assessment, caseload allocation and management practices, including demand management.
  • Experience in service development and maintaining continuous quality improvement.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and an excellent track record in building and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Advanced computer skills including the ability to utilise ICT solutions, electronic recording systems and data management tools.
  • Strong organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, manage multiple tasks and competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive team member.
  • Clear understanding of professional boundaries, confidentiality, privacy principles and practices.
