How we help

Butterfly is here for any Australian impacted by an eating disorder or a body image issue. We’re committed to helping you find support—whether it’s for yourself, a friend, a family member, a client, or anyone else that you care about.

We work with governments, partners and philanthropic organisations to fill the gaps in existing services and trial new models of support, care and treatment.

The Butterfly National Helpline offers free and confidential support for anyone concerned about eating disorders or body image issues. Our specialist counsellors offer non-judgmental support over the phone, by email and by online chat including:

  • Information about eating disorders and body image
  • Information about and referrals to treatment, care and support
  • Referrals to health practitioners who have been screened for understanding eating disorders
  • Counselling
  • Free online support groups and skills programs

The first step to recovering from an eating disorder or body image issue is often to see a health professional, such as your GP.

Our Outpatient Program for Young People is a 12-week therapeutic group program in Sydney that provides early intervention for young people.

endED Butterfly House will be Australia’s first community-based residential facility for those most in need of both psychological and physical care. Due to open in late 2020, endED Butterfly House will open its doors to patients from across Australia, via referral from your health professional.
