How we are funded
As Australia’s only national charity for eating disorders and body image concerns, Butterfly Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit organisation.
We rely on the financial support, donations and in-kind support from State and Federal Government, people with lived experience of an eating disorder and their loved ones, philanthropic trusts and foundations, other individual and community donors, and our corporate partners.
Butterfly receives financial support from the Federal Government in several areas:
- National Helpline
- National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC)
- endED Butterfly House residential facility on the Sunshine Coast
- A Nationally Coordinated & Consistent Approach to Eating Disorders, including implementing the National Agenda for Eating Disorders
Without this significant help we would not be able to provide these vital services.
Butterfly has also received funding from the VIC, NSW and TAS Governments to help with some research projects and treatment and support services in those states. Butterfly is grateful to both State and Federal governments for their support and ongoing commitment to eating disorders and body image issues in Australia.
Butterfly receives support from many generous groups and individuals through donations, workplace giving programs, regular giving, community events, and organisations that support our work. We also receive grants from philanthropic trusts and foundations and seek out opportunities where our values align.
We appreciate the generosity of all those who volunteer their time, donate funds, or hold fundraisers. We simply could not achieve all that we do without your help.
