Free online program for carers: Understanding eating disorder recovery
Skills to help your loved one overcome an eating disorder
Next Dates: 2022 DATES TBD
Time: 7:30pm-9:30pm (AEST/AEDT)
This free 6-week workshop is accessible to anyone in Australia. The program is facilitated by specialist counsellors via our online forum.
Caring for a person with an eating disorder can be a long-term and skilled commitment. Yet families often need to provide care with very little if any training or support. This workshop will help you develop practical skills to support your loved one with an eating disorder in their recovery progress. The Butterfly National Helpline can provide more information or register your interest in attending this program.
Anyone, anywhere in Australia, caring for a loved one experiencing or recovering from an eating disorder, whether they are a family member, friend, colleague or partner. Those experiencing an eating disorder are asked not to attend or listen in.
This workshop, based on Janet Treasure’s book Skills-Based Caring for a Loved One with an Eating Disorder, will help you:
- Understand and adapt your caring style
- Connect with others going through similar experiences
- Learn about helping to motivate change
- Develop new communication skills
- Manage difficult behavior
- Understand what might be happening for your loved one.
The facilitator will present via live webinar, while participants can type in questions. Numbers are capped.
There is no cost – the workshop is free.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your expression of interest and “UEDR” in the subject line. We will be in touch as soon as (free) ticket sales open.
